Colombia’s Constitutional Court Postpones Hearing on Gay Marriage

The Court scheduled a hearing for February 4th, but adjourned without discussing the marriage issue. The Justices are being asked to decide if Civil Registries and notaries should be allowed to marry couples, and whether the couples who had civil court judges register them as spouses when they applied for a “solemn union” contract should have their existing marriages annulled. Several media outlets expect a verdict as high as 6-3 in favor of same-sex marriage. The case may be heard next week.

Remain perched.
